The National Armed Forces inform that the potential threat in Latvian airspace currently remains in the municipalities of Krāslava and Ludza, while it has been lifted in the municipalities of Rēzekne, Preiļi, Madona, Cēsis, Gulbene, Smiltene, and Valmiera.

NATO air policing mission fighter jets have been activated in Baltic airspace.

The National Armed Forces, together with NATO allies, continuously monitor the airspace to ensure the ability to respond immediately to any potential threat. The National Armed Forces have strengthened air defense capabilities along the eastern border by deploying additional units.

As long as Russia’s aggression against Ukraine continues, there remains a possibility of repeated incidents in which a foreign unmanned aerial vehicle enters or approaches Latvian airspace.

Attention residents!

Please go indoors, follow the “two-wall principle,” and close all windows and doors. If you notice a low-flying, suspicious, or dangerous object, do not approach it and call 112. We will inform you when the threat has ended.
