Multinational Brigade Latvia (MNB-LVA) – an integral part of the Multinational Division “North” based in Latvia - conducted Exercise OAK RESOLVE at Ādaži Military Base from August 29 to September 9, 2025.
OAK RESOLVE enhanced the interoperability and effectiveness of the Brigade as it remains ready to support Latvian national defence on behalf of the NATO Alliance. This mission rehearsal set a high standard for operational preparedness and demonstrates NATO's commitment to the defence of its Eastern flank.
For two weeks, the participants worked intensively to enhance interoperability among the subunits and practiced carrying out defense tasks more effectively in order to maintain readiness to support the defense of Latvia as a NATO member state. All units demonstrated high performance standards, once again proving the brigade’s full operational readiness to defend Latvia and all Eastern flank.
OAK RESOLVE showcased the capabilities and readiness of NATO defense units deployed in Latvia. The exercise demonstrated that our allies are not only capable but also willing to stand with us. Such demonstrations of trust are vitally important for Latvia’s security and give our citizens confidence in the Alliance’s commitment.”
– Major General Kaspars Pudāns, Commander of the National Armed Forces
“Multinational Brigade Latvia stands as a testament to NATO’s unity and resolve. Through rigorous evaluation and multinational cooperation, we will continue to hone our combat readiness and operational effectiveness. Our presence in Latvia is a clear demonstration of NATO’s defensive posture - firm in our commitment to collective defence and prepared to defend threats to the Alliance.”

Quick facts
• The Multinational Brigade Latvia (MNB-LVA) consists of soldiers sent on a mission from 14 NATO member states: Albania, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.
• With 14 allied nations integrated into the MNB-LVA structure, the Latvian National Armed Forces benefit during joint exercises from the experience and expertise of 14 different states’ military forces. This significantly strengthens the principles of collective defense and improves interoperability among the military units, ensuring the defense of NATO’s Eastern flank and the whole Baltic region against potential threats.
• In the ongoing comprehensive national defense exercise “NAMEJS 2025” (September 2 – October 8, 2025), MNB-LVA is also participating in various training tasks together with the Latvian National Armed Forces and the National Guard, contributing to the strengthening of the country’s comprehensive defense.
• Exercise “NAMEJS 2025” combines the defense capabilities and potential of Latvia’s national forces with the international forces stationed in the country, thereby reinforcing the foundations of NATO’s collective defense and the unwavering readiness to respond together to threats against Latvia or the Alliance as a whole.
• “Namejs 2025” is the annual exercise organized by the Latvian National Armed Forces. Just like last year, this year’s exercise involves not only units of the National Armed Forces, the National Guard and allied soldiers, but also governmental institutions and civilian partners with the main intent of strengthening multi-level cooperation to face potential threats more effectively together.
