From May 5 to 11, the large-scale military exercise "Crystal arrow 2025" organized by the Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Land Forces will take place across Vidzeme region.

The exercise “Crystal arrow 2025” will focus on brigade-level operations, training full-scale defense operations in conventional urban warfare, aiming to replicate real-life scenarios as closely as possible.

“With every exercise outside the Riga region, we grow stronger and demonstrate our ability to defend our land under any circumstances. During "Crystal arrow 2025", we will train our capability to strike the enemy in depth using indirect fire support and close air support. We will also practice technical supply to units and operation execution to defeat the enemy,” emphasized Colonel Oskars Kudlis, Commander of the Land Forces Mechanized Infantry Brigade.

Approximately 3,000 soldiers and 1,200 military vehicles will take part in "Crystal arrow 2025", including soldiers from the first intake of the Conscription, the NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia, the 17th Battalion of the National Guard’s Riga 1st Brigade, the Air Force, Military Police, and the Logistics Command. Cadets from the Oskars Kalpaks Vocational Secondary School and students from the Intermediate-Level Command and Staff Officer Course will join the exercise to gain experience and improve task execution skills.

“Crystal arrow 2025” will enhance effective and coordinated cooperation between the National Armed Forces and NATO units, improving the ability to respond jointly to any security challenges.
These exercises not only improve the combat readiness of soldiers and reserve forces but also strengthen public awareness and engagement in national defense, demonstrating that security is a shared goal in which everyone has a role.

Attention Residents!

During the exercise, from May 5 to 11, military vehicle convoys will move through public roads and populated areas in Vidzeme. There will be visible overflights of allied military aircraft, including at low altitudes. Airspace restrictions will be in place in the Vidzeme region to ensure uninterrupted execution of National Armed Forces tasks.
Residents will also observe the movement of soldiers and National Guard troops through urban areas, deployment of units along Vidzeme’s roads, forests, and meadows, as well as positioning of vehicles and other equipment.
