Over half of NATO allies participate in exercise in Latvia in September 2022
The multinational NATO Exercise Silver Arrow 2022 is taking place from 19 to 30 September in the Camp Adazi training area, Latvia. Around 4200 troops from 17  NATO allies will participate in the exercise.

The main purpose of Silver Arrow 2022 is to:

•    Demonstrate interoperability and unity of NATO forces on land and in the air.
•    Demonstrate combat capabilities and readiness for defence and deterrence.
•    Certify the eFP BG LVA (enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Latvia).

Exercise Silver Arrow 2022 is organized and led by the Latvian Land Forces MECH BDE (Mechanized Infantry Brigade), based in Camp Adazi. NATO eFP BG Latvia is integrated into the MECH BDE.  Canada is the framework nation for eFP BG Latvia leading 10 other contributing nations. Allies from the other two eFP BGs (Estonia and Lithuania) in the Baltics are also participating in Ex Silver Arrow, thus demonstrating unity of effort in the Baltic region.

The following NATO Allies are participating in EX Silver Arrow 2022:

Albania, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Silver Arrow 2022 is a long-planned exercise in line with NATO’s role as a defensive Alliance for more than 70 years, protecting one billion people in Allied territory. At the NATO Summit in Madrid in June 2022 leaders condemned Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and decided on multiple steps to strengthen NATO’s deterrence and forward defences, including on the Eastern Flank of the Alliance.
