Work at the site of the crashed drone in Latvia has been completed
In the Krāslava region, the initial investigation activities at the site of the crash of the unmanned aerial vehicle have been completed. The State Police have recorded and removed the wreckage of the unmanned aerial vehicle at the scene, the investigation in the initiated criminal proceedings will continue and the further institutional jurisdiction of the proceedings will be decided.
It was previously reported that, upon evaluating the found wreckage, it was determined that the unmanned aerial vehicle that entered Latvian airspace on March 25 is of Ukrainian origin and that it flew into Latvian territory from Russia.
This case is a direct consequence of the war launched by Russia in Ukraine, and it is known that Russia uses electronic warfare weapons to repel counterattacks, which can change the flight trajectory of Ukrainian drones.
The National Armed Forces continue cooperation with the State Police and other involved services.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant and, if they notice suspicious objects or unmanned aerial vehicles, immediately report them to the State Police by calling 112.
