From September 2nd to 6th, the international military exercise Furious Wolf 24 will take place in the Sigulda region.
The aim of the exercise is to strengthen close air support integration to support battalion and brigade-level units under large scale combat conditions, both in urban areas and beyond.
The exercise will cover all three Baltic states and will involve Eurofighter jets from Italy and Germany. Participants will include close air support controllers from several NATO member states, including the Czech Republic, France, Latvia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Germany, as well as NATO's enhanced Forward Presence battle groups in the Baltic states and Poland.
The exercise is organized by the Artillery Division's close air support controllers of the Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Land Forces, who are organizing this exercise for the second year in a row.
Such military exercises significantly improve understanding of the roles of units in performing joint tasks and make an invaluable contribution to comprehensive national defense by promoting the execution of host nation support functions for allied units.
As part of the military exercise, low altitude flights by allied air force fighters will take place in Latvian airspace during both daylight and nighttime hours. During the exercise, the movement of military equipment and personnel on Latvia's main and regional roads is expected.
