On 17 August 2023 first Multinational Division North Change of Command ceremony took place in Riga, Latvia. Danish Army Major General Jette Albinus relieved Danish Army Major General Flemming Mathiasen as Commander Multinational Division North (MND N) during a change of command ceremony at AB  Dam in Riga, Latvia. This was the first Change of Command ceremony for Multinational Division North. 

Commander Multinational Corps Northeast Lieutenant General Jürgen-Joachim von Sandrart took part in the ceremony highlighting the MND N as a strong pillar of MNC NE and NATO Force Structure. “This change of command, however, is all the more special because it happens for the first time in the history of Multinational Division North. Together, we traverse into the next chapter of your mission, which will help NATO better to safeguard its northern Allies.” 

In his final address, Major General Flemming Mathiasen emphasized the importance of multinational team work in MND N which is a basis of the achievement - division is fully capable of conducting its tasks and ready to fulfil tasks ordered by higher NATO Headquarters. “Through a joint effort and dedication of staff and soldiers, as well as indispensable support from Framework Nations and many other stakeholders, Multinational Division North has transformed into a fully integrated and capable part of NATO in Latvia. I am fully confident that the Division can take responsibilities for defending Latvia.”

Major General Jette Albinus is looking forward to working together with Latvian and NATO allies. “It's an honour to join the team of Multinational Division North. I'm looking forward to leading a Division built on solid foundations, and I will continue the work of my predecessor to make for the security of the Baltic region.”

Major General Jette Albinus, former Vice Chief Join Operations in Danish Defence Command, began her career in 1988. Her military career includes commanding officer roles in Danish Armed forces and three deployments in Balkan region and Afghanistan. 

The Headquarters Multinational Division North based in Ādaži, Latvia, have been established to increase the defensive capability of the region, and complete the construction of a military command structure, in which the Allied forces in the form of Brigades are subordinated to the Multinational Division North. Multinational Division North is under command of Multinational Corps Northeast Headquarters in Szczecin, Poland. Currently, 13 nations are represented at the headquarters – Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
