From July 14 to 26, the annual Baltic States Naval Forces diver training "DIVEX 25" will take place in Liepāja and the Baltic Sea, during which soldiers will improve their knowledge and skills in searching, identifying, neutralizing and destroying unexploded ordnance in the marine environment.

The aim of the exercise is to develop the units ability to work with historical explosive ordnance in a real-world environment – both to search for and identify objects and to ensure their safe removal, movement and neutralization. The main task is to clear ports and shipping lanes, making them safe for daily operation and navigation. During the exercise, the units improve cooperation and interoperability between units of the Underwater Mine Disposal Teams. This year, divers and support units from the armed forces of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Germany and the United States are participating in the exercise.

This exercise is a HODOPS operation, which is part of the joint tasks of the Baltic States to clear the Baltic Sea of explosive ordnance. Clearing the Baltic Sea of historical explosive ordnance is one of the long-term tasks of the Baltic States Navies. This type of exercise began in 2014, and is organized annually by one of the Baltic States on a rotational basis.
