From March 9 to 13, the close air support control unit exercise “FURIOUS WOLF 26-1” is underway in Latvia. The aim of the exercise is to strengthen close air support integration or coordination between soldiers on the ground and military aviation in order to support units in large-scale combat operations both in urban environments and outside them, as well as to maintain the combat capabilities of close air support control unit specialists.

The Land Forces Mechanized Infantry Brigade, National Guard units, the Air Force, as well as allied soldiers from the US and NATO multinational brigades in the Baltic States and Poland are participating in the exercise.

During the exercise from March 9 to 13, Allied fighter and helicopter flights are planned at the Kuldīga region military training ground “Mežaine” and in the vicinity of the Ādaži military training ground, including low-level overflights both during daylight and darkness. Such exercises improve mutual cooperation between units and understanding of their role in fulfilling common tasks, provide a significant contribution to comprehensive national defense, and also promote the provision of host country support to allied units.
