From 17 September to 2 October the active phase of the Comprehensive State Defence exercise "Namejs 2023" will take place at the eastern border area of Latvia.

During the active phase, the ability of the units of the National Armed Forces to be quickly and effectively deployed to perform tasks anywhere in Latvia will be trained. This year's training will focus on Latvia's eastern border, as the units must be able to effectively perform national defence tasks anywhere in Latvia.

In order to improve and strengthen the ability to perform tasks in the event of a national threat, the active phase of the Comprehensive State Defence exercise "Namejs 2023" will take place in close cooperation with the subordinate institutions of the Ministry of the Interior – the State Police and the State Border Guard. All units of the National Armed Forces, as well the NATO enhanced forward presence battle group Latvia will participate in the training.    

Comprehensive State Defence exercise "Namejs 2023" is an exercise organized by the National Armed Forces to test and improve Latvia's national collective defence plans.

The exercise “Namejs 2023” is taking place from 5 September to 2 October throughout Latvia. A total of around 8500 participants take part in the exercise.

The exercise "Namejs 2023" demonstrates cooperation and interoperability with allied armed forces by integrating allied units and headquarters in the execution of common tasks.
